Description
Deep violet red. Clean and bright with a range of red fruits (raspberry and cherry) that dominate with a higharomatic intensity, joined by balsamic, cacao, coffee, and roasted tones. Fresh, elegant, easy, and balanced in the mouth with a lightly sweet, toasted, and pleasant aftertaste.
Bela is the name of the CVNE project in Ribera del Duero created in 2017 after they purchased the Anta Banderas (Antonio Banderas) winery there. It’s an homage to the great grandmother of the current CVNE generation, Sofa Real de Asa, and includes a label based on the monopole label from the early years of the 20th century. They have vineyards in four villages, part of the Anta Banderas ones and further purchases, with the backbone of 74 hectares in Villalba. They want to resume production of wines in the style from yesteryear, not the power, alcohol, extraction and tannic style of the last few years; they aim for wines with character and restraint, fine wines from Ribera del Duero. The Bela label comes from the vines in Villalba, which deliver wines with power and rusticity, but they also have nine hectares in Moradillo de Roa, which is the base for Arano, as the grapes there have more complexity and finesse. A third wine, called urea Minerva, is made from vines in Pearanda de Duero, from a single plot. They currently produce 300,000 liters of wine, but they have planted four more hectares and have a further 35 hectares of land that should be planted starting in 2023.
100% Tempranillo.
